This page will be home to a variety of tools for routine electrical calculations. They are done using javascript so that form validation and calculation of results occurs client-side. Of course this means that javascript must be enabled in your browser.
The first tool, “Basic Residential Service” provides service calculation for a typical BC single family detached dwelling or similar, with 120/240 volt single phase service.
More calculators will be added as time allows.
These calculators are provided “as is” for use by apprentices, home owners or whomever may be interested. They provide an introduction to the workings of the relevant Canadian Electrical Code (21st Edition) sections as they are applied in British Columbia.
The calculators are not a substitute for sound electrical and electrical code training and knowledge.
